Buckley Falls is named after the convict William Buckley who escaped from a penal colony near modern day Sorrento and lived with the local Wathaurong tribe for more than thirty years (further information is available here ). Take Shannon Avenue South and take a right down Queens Park Road and the Barwon River and are impossible to miss.
Buckley Falls Reserve
Check out the beautiful rock cascades of Buckley Falls fed from Barwon River a short distance from Geelong town centre. The view of the falls from the wooden platform is impressive and well worth the strain of climbing the steps to reach it. Sections of the route can be slippery after rain so make sure you wear decent shoes.
